Robyn Is Here

August 2, 2010

Robyn Is Here was the first album I ever bought. I was 12 years old. Robyn was a bit of a role model. She still is.

It was released 1995. Robyn was only 16, so young yet so brave. I remember the songs You’ve Got That Something and Do You Really Want Me (Show Me Respect).

Media thought at the time that she was a bit too young to sing about those kind of things but, hey, teens have feelings too.

She has come a long way since those days, four albums, her own record label Konichiwa Records, supporting act for Madonna.

Her single Keep This Fire Burning was covered by UK singer Beverly Knight – something I have told many of my UK friends. She has been on David Letterman and just finished the All Hearts tour, with Kelis, across the US. Yes, she even made it in the US.

Lately, she has been working a lot – A LOT – releasing three full-length albums this year. Body Talk pt1, Body Talk pt2 and Speak Your Body: Body Talk pt3. Recording whilst touring.

Here is her new video and first single to be released from Body Talk pt2. It looks a bit like a commercial. The song is good, it’s pop, it’s Robyn. I like.

Robyn explains Hang With Me (from own website):
“Pop should be seductive and sweet when it can. And I felt like I could be on Hang with me, in a uncompromising way. It´s like a sweet and sour bon-bon wrapped in melancholy. Yum.”

And here is Robyn’s last video too, Dancing On My Own, since I really like the song and every time I turn on the radio here in Sweden, it comes on. Think most girls feel like that at some point.
