H&M – Fashion Against Aids

April 27, 2011

Isn’t it great when you can buy things for yourself and still help others? H&M are collaborating with a bunch of celebs in this campaign and 25% is donated to charity.

To be specific, the money goes to HIV/Aids education and prevention projects as it says on the tag.

It makes shopping so much more worthwhile. Look at what I picked up today – a really nice vest, perfect for these nice hot sunny days that we’ve had in Stockholm recently.

I will wear it with pride. And honestly there were some really nice stuff in the “Fashion Against Aids” collection. Thank you H&M!

Born a . . . ?

February 14, 2011

Lady Gaga did it again. She stole the show. And it will happen again. And again.

People are still talking about the meat dress she wore for the VMAs last year. I know, because my post about it, is still getting hits. It was a shocker.

This time, it was at yesterday’s Grammy Awards where she won three of them.

Arriving in an egg carried by four men. Did anyone expect that? Another shocker. But she, or they, had five months to come up with it. Now, she’s gonna have to make these shocking moments way more frequent. The pressure is on. People won’t be expecting anything less.

Lady Gaga waited until her performance of Born This Way to be ‘born’ out of the egg. Not bad, not bad at all. The performance and the song that is. As for the clothes, they were animal-friendlier.

Raw meat=Fashion?

There must be a limit to how far a person can go. I’m in absolute awe.

I know the VMAs were last Sunday and I did have a look at some of the dresses worn on the white carpet. Lady Gaga in something that only she would wear, of course. A dress with a big painting that she apparently wore last year in Vanity Fair. Not that bad.

I did see something about “Lady Gaga meat dress” trending on Twitter but didn’t put my mind to it until today, just a moment ago, when a picture appeared in front of my eyes.

Lady Gaga wearing pieces of meat. Red meat covering her body. A piece of meat on her head. And they call this a hat. Meat on her feet in the shape of wedges. Meat from a living animal covering a human body.

Meat that could feed the hungry. Seriously. There are people in this world who don’t know what the sensation of being full feels like. I am truly disgusted.

Firstly, I’m disgusted of the designer for thinking of such an inhuman, tasteless and cruel creation. Secondly, what kind of person is this Lady Gaga, would she let someone wear meat from her body and thirdly, MTV, how could they agree to this, don’t they have any moral or ethical responsibility. Limits, there must be a limit.

But apparently not. When it comes to publicity everything is allowed. Yes, I have given it some attention here so they succeeded. However, they lost my appreciation and hopefully others’ too.

Is this what fashion is coming too? What will be the next thing? Lady Gaga always trying to outdo herself. But then it’s not surprising that she would be the one to wear something like that. She already have followers trying to imitate her style but let’s hope they’ve got some sense not to wear raw meat.

Actually, I got a funny thought, I wonder if there’s a synthetic imitation of Lady Gaga’s meat dress. Something done in sticky plastic. Just in case…

Sex and the City 2

June 18, 2010

I saw it the day it premiered when I was in Michigan, US. Thought I might see it before everybody else in Europe but no it was a world premiere.

At least I didn’t get to hear any spoilers since I had already seen it from people posting updates on Facebook. But then nothing out of the ordinary actually happened.

Carrie met an old flame, too many outfit changes and high heels in the desert!?

For me it was nice to spend some time with the gals again. Have a few laughs, watch some soon-to-be trends and feel good about it.

But, yes, don’t expect anything spectacular from it. It’s just Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte having a girly time. A bit older, a bit more mature perhaps and guiding us normal beings.
