BLACKstreet

February 28, 2011

So, I went to visit a friend and coincidentally Blackstreet happened to be in town for a concert. And why not? Very exciting.

Haven’t cared much about the recent reunions and comebacks but it’s been going on for a while now so it’s almost weird for a band/group/artist not to make a re-appearance.

But I was very positive about seeing Blackstreet even though I wasn’t really into them back in the day. They were the cool guys.

Obviously, I remember the big hits No Diggity, Fix and then there was Joy and Don’t Leave Me.

And on the day of the show they delivered. There were abs, roses and a girl on the stage. It was fun. A bit short. But then, there were only three of them? Wonder what happened to the fourth one.

Hip Hop @ Malmöfestivalen

August 27, 2010

I ended up at another free festival. This time, Malmöfestivalen in Malmö, in the south of Sweden.

Last night I got to enjoy some hip hop with local rapper Chords and then Grieves with Budo from the US. That’s what’s great about festivals, you get to listen to music you wouldn’t normally do.

I quite liked both. Chords with his reggae influenced sound had a good vibe but I only got to see about 15 minutes of the end of his gig.

Grieves was a pleasure to see for his energetic one-man show and his down-to-earth attitude. His friend Budo was very impressive, playing the trumpet, keyboards and guitar.

Here’s a little taste for you:

Chords – Luckiest Man Alive

Grieves & Budo – Cloud Man

Visit Chords’ site for more of him and Grieves with Budo on MySpace.
